Jimmy and Mel's annual State Fair excursion!

Jimmy and I LOVE any kind of fair. We were spoiled this summer at the Ventura County fair, it was oceanside and just had a cool vibe. Anyways, on Friday, we got there right when it opened. We got our first snack of ice cold beer. Then we saw the native american spirit dancers. We walked through the building with all vendors the got our next snack from the Pigley Wigley stand of sliders, onion rings and fried zucchini. Then we went through the beer garden and got to 'taste' some beers as well. Jimmy's favorite Budweiser Clydesdales were there and theres a pic with me and 'Brady' the fire dog. We saw a couple of the corny shows which included the Lumberjack show and the blacksmith show. We also snuck in during the rehearsal for the entertainment that was in the Coliseum that night= an ABBA cover band. We heard them sing Chiqatita and Super Troopers. The original plan was to stay for the figure 8 races, which started at 7pm but we didn't make it. We ducked out to relax at home. We hope to go in 2 weeks for may favorite: THE DEMOLITON DERBY. Stay tuned.....

Grease is the word

Last Tuesday I went and saw the Broadway Musical Grease. We had such a fun time. It was me, Rossana, James (Concierge from work) and another friend from work, Georgiana. It was Georgie's first musical. James was working at the stadium for the U2 concert. Here's some pics I found online! I LOVED IT! We also have plans to take in Mary Poppins the musical in February!

The latest and greatest

Jimmy got an i phone and has been taking some pics. Thought I would post some of them. We both gave blood last Friday and he had someone take a pic of him for photographic evidence. He has worked at the Hyatt for over 5 years and this is the first time he had given blood at work. Sam donated a lot of blood over the last year and a half so Jimmy donated blood in honor of Sam.

We still have the Leopard Gecko that the Akin's left for us before thier move to Kauai and here's some pics of him.
We have been watching Callin and Ava once a week so Michelle and Chris can have a break. They are getting so big and are so much fun to hang out with. Both Callin and Ava LOVE Mr. Potato Head and put his eyes, ears, glasses, hats in thier mouth or on thier body! Thier both so adorable we just LOVE them.
Jimmy also worked the Glendale Fire Dept. Parade and took some shots. I looked at our calendar for the next 3 months and each and every weekend we have something going on. Either Jimmy is working for the city for a football game or we are in Chicago or there is something going on at work.

Letters from Boot Camp

Well, it's been about 1 month since Sam wished us farewell and headed to cold country, Great Lakes, IL. Everyday, we get home and Jimmy asks if we got anything in the mail from Sam. It breaks my heart every time that there isn't anything. Jimmy got a call on Friday afternoon from Sam! We went and got him a calling card as soon as he sent us his address. He got to talk for about 20 minutes and Jimmy couldn't have been more thrilled. He said Sam sounded good, got all 4 of his wisdom teeth out (that saved us almost $1000-, thank you, Uncle Sam!) . Sam only gets letters once a week. He's got about 5 more weeks until graduation and seems focused more than ever. He indicated that he's passed with perfect scores inspections for his bunk, personl appearance and chain of command. He said that he is in the top 5 of 75 people!

On Saturday, Jimmy got a letter and I got home from work to my very own letter too. I was so touched by that! Sam said that I would be amazed at how much cleaning he has done. He said that the bathrooms have 20 toilets and when he's back, he'll clean and be happy we don't have 20 toilets. GEEZ, I'm already amazed! I try and send a letter each week with pictures, etc. We are really looking forward to seeing him in November!

Jace's 2nd Birthday

A little late for Jace's 2nd birthday which was Sept. 05. Have had visitors and then a gall bladder removal to deal with.
Jace had a great birthday and as you can see, he was pooped out at the end and fell asleep. Phil, of course, dressed him for this last photo and Jace never woke up.
We missed having you all with us.
