Hello from Kauai

It has been so wonderful having Alex here to visit. He and Jace became very close and I am sure Jace will miss him terribly when he leaves tonight. Alex and Jace have loved feeding the neighbor cow his daily cabbage treat.

PROTECT YOURSELF!!!!

I knew I lived a charmed life but have you ever heard the saying, "Bad things happen to good people"? Well- it did yesterday. The Mother's day walk was awesome but returning to the car, our upbeat, happy-to-do-good selves found James' truck broken into and my purse missing. It was so devastating- my Coach purse GONE. My wallet with my ID, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Checks, EVERYTHING GONE!@!! Luckily, my cell phone was in my pocket! The passenger front window was busted out and there was glass everywhere. I was stunned- I couldn't even yell, kick, scream, cry I was paralyzed. The sucky part about it is obviously the feeling of being violated but the purse was given to me by my late Aunt Maryellen that Passed away last year. I couldn't sleep last night, thinking of the 'what ifs'. So- I thought I would send this out with the 5 things to do if this were to happen to you.

Step 1- Make copies of all your credit cards, ID cards and licenses- everything in your wallet
If you think you're immune from having your credit cards stolen, you're wrong. Please be prepared- you never know when but it's better to be prepared.

Step 2- 2nd thing to do if you do get your wallet/purse stollen is to call the companies that issued the cards to report the theft. Do this as soon as you discover the problem. Use the toll free #.

Step 3- Next, call the 3 national credit reporting agencies to report the theft and ask them to attach a 'fraud alert' to all your credit cards: Equifax- 1-800-525-6285, Experian (formerly TRW) 1-888-397-3742 and Trans Union- 1-800-680-7289

Step 4- If you Social Security card is missing, call the Social Security Administration (fraud line) at 1-800-269-0271. Also, be sure to let the motor vehicles bureau know about your drivers license, as well as any other organization from which you lost cards.

Step 5- next, call the police in the jurisdiction where your credit cards were stolen to report the theft.

Okay- so I did everything on this list but not exactly in the order here. I feel okay about it but, I am not gonna lie- it still sucks. I only hope I sleep better tonight. So, keep me in your prayers and pray that these jerks are caught. One of the questions that the officer asked was, "Are you willing to press charges if the perpetrators are caught?" I was like, "Um, hell yeah!!!" So if the authorities don't get these bad guys, Karma will.

Mothers Day continued

Starting OUT!

Our Team grew by 2 and 1/2! Pictured here you see, Joe holding baby Joey, Angela, Julia, Catherine, Barb, Georgie, Aranna and Mel.
PINK PORTA-POTTIES! LOVE it and this pic of the "Pink Bullet" walking towards them. Aranna was called Pink Bullet by James- as we were walking, she took off like a bullet. Gotta love James and his humor.

There were so many people at the walk it was so touching to see! The cool shirts we are wearing were provided by Hyatt Corporate.

Everyone was decked out for the occasion.

Aranna's custom Mother's Day Shirt

I was pretty proud of myself for decorating a shirt for Aranna. The front has iron on letters that spell her name and the back has a nifty iron on of the logo- you can buy iron ons and print out ANYTHING from your computer and put them on a shirt. As I was decorating it, James was spying on me and I was explaining what I was doing and once he realized that I could put ANYTHING on a shirt he said the funniest thing: He said, "Um Mel, I want to be really clear on something. Do not 'decorate' any shirts for me with iron ons and letters, okay?" I laughed. I know he's afraid I will make h im wear something cheesy, which isn't far from reality.

Seen here you see James with Aranna. It was a great day!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's. Enjoy the day!

SALSA QUEEN~!

This can now be added to my list of accomplishments! Yes, for Cinco de Mayo the Hyatt had a Salsa contest and I thought, "what the heck". I have made a few batches and received rave reviews from in-laws, friends and my husband. James gave me some ideas of how to improve the last batch. He said,
"It's great but you need to add a little kick to it."
I was like, you want kick, you got it! And this resulted in winning the contest here at work! Mom would be proud! I used her recipe and just tweaked some things. So, as James said earlier today~ my award winning salsa will be featured on the menu at the restaurant we open.

Mother's Day Plans

I am excited to be walking and raising funds to support the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. Click here to visit my personal Web site!

Of course EVERYONE is invited to join in. I thought it would be fun to walk then have breakfast/brunch in honor of Mom!
I am hoping that James, Aranna, Norm, Michelle, Chris and the kids will join in!
